08:12 AM ET 07.23 | When will we see Mariano Rivera in pinstripes again? [Rivera] has gone from adamant to hesitant about playing next season. Baseball's best closer ever said Saturday he's so focused on the day-to-day grind of physical therapy that he can't commit to pitching in 2013, let alone this season, declining to let his mind wander beyond the moment. "I don't even know if I want to play next year. I don't know what tomorrow is going to bring. One day at a time," said Rivera, who was walking without a limp at Yankee Stadium after watching a training session of the English Premier League's Chelsea soccer squad, which plays an exhibition Sunday at the Stadium. "I don't want to put something in my mind because if it doesn't happen, I'll be disappointed," he added.

He'll be back for one more year and end things in his terms. You can count on it.

Just gotta love a 4 game sweep by the team with the lowest payroll in baseball over the team with the highest payroll in baseball!! Hell 2 players on the Yankees make more than the entire A's roster. Love it!!

Who cares?

July 23, 2012  05:10 PM ET

he'll be back

Whatever you'd like, Mo. You've already done more than enough for NY.

Well, clearly that was the World Series for the A's - so I wonder when they'll have rings made up.

Four games in the middle of July? And you're excited? Wow, a troll with no life. How ... original.

Agree with that. Anytime you're hurt it's hard to trust you'll be back 100%

What excites me is that a group of young hungry players are going out and competing with and defeating a group of huge salary stars on the baseball field. It is why I love the game of baseball. How does this make me a troll with no life? It is exciting and fun to watch. The fact that 2 players on the Yankees roster make more than the entire A's roster just makes it that much more enjoyable. Don't worry though, your team just went out and bought themselves another star to plug into their "team".

It's a good trade!! The M's should have traded Ichiro a few years ago.

Yep..They got spanked even with their billion dollar payroll.Fact of the matter they ain't making it to the world series.the fundamentals of baseball are foreign to this yankee team.Station to station baseball. And that is what the post season is all about. They don't win unless they hit homers. And the postseason is about pitching more than homers.

Moreover the Yankee pitching other than CC is 2nd rate.

That was sweet....

To all the gasbags above posting negative comments about the Yankees... how many pennants and World Series have your teams won? That's what I thought. Jealousy is a terribly thing....

Really, Maris? Just because the Yanks have had the cash to go out an buy half - if not more - of their pennants doesn't mean jack. Show me a team that has built themselves through a farm system and long term-minded trades, and then I'll show them some respect. In the mean time, shut it.

Jeter, Rivera Posada, Bernie Williams........These names ring a bell ???
