Preds sending mixed signals in Weber drama

08:23 AM ET 07.24 | Somewhat mercifully, the Shea Weber saga is winding down, as Nashville has to decide whether to match the Flyers' 14-year, $110 million offer to the star defenseman. There are mixed signals being sent. The fact that Nashville has not talked to Weber since he signed the offer sheet Wednesday leads one to believe the Predators are not going to sign the restricted free agent. Then again, if Nashville wasn't going to match the offer, wouldn't it be having daily conversations with Flyers GM Paul Holmgren about trying to make a deal -- and getting more value than the four No. 1 draft picks as compensation? Holmgren and Nashville GM David Poile have had just one conversation since Weber signed the offer sheet.

agree....there will be a lot of unhappy pred fans and season ticket sells will plummet...unless a trade is made and Preds come out looking good..but doubt it......no joy in Music City right now...

I have to agree. It doesn't make any sense for them to match. Grab all those 1st round picks and .... let the rebuilding process begin! The Preds will have two 1st round picks like for the next 5 years!

I don't think it will make any difference because all her fans are already at the games.
