08:12 AM ET 07.24 | Another week, another twist in the long and winding road of Dwight Howard speculation. The Orlando Magic have told rival executives that they might not trade [Howard] after all, according to league sources. An executive who has had discussions with the Magic regarding Howard said Orlando only will trade the star center in a deal that is great for the franchise. The executive said this has been Orlando's stance for the past "week or so." Another executive who has talked with Orlando said he thinks the Magic may start the season with Howard and wait until the February trade deadline to move him. Each executive left the door open for posturing, noting that the Magic may be bluffing in hopes of coaxing better offers out of opposing teams.

I can't imagine Dwight showing up with any type of motivation until he's traded.

T&R should take a 1 week break on any further Howard topics.

This is the neverending story at this point. The only possible good thing is the Magic will get to see some of Houston's current rookies in real action before making the move. Houston will trade the house for Howard with no guarantee on an extension. Who else Brooklyn is iffy at this point, they resigned Lopez but now the Magic wouldn't get a good deal involving him. LA has Bynum what incentive would he have to resign with the Magic/Cleveland if traded? The longer this plays out the more I think Houston will be the only team involved.

Sure he can--if Orlando is stupid enough to keep him.

He wont be traded before the All-Star break if at all this season, if the Magic were going to pull the plug they would've done it by now. And if Dwight plays this season for the Magic in case my prediction is wrong he must play balls to the wall so he wont look like he is quitting on his team just because he doesnt want to play there. He needs to try and be professional at all times from on court to off court antics.

Magic may start the season with Howard...
For Orlando's sake, I hope Dwight's recovered from back surgery and will be able to play hard until they find a trade partner. Because if the operation didn't go as well as they're saying it did, the Magic could be stuck with a untradeable Howard.

That would be a nice change wouldn't it, maybe he can get some advice from BronBron on how to shut your mouth and just play.

I think the Magic are going to wait to see how Brook Lopez plays the first half of the season. If he plays well, they will trade Howard to Brooklyn. If he doesn't, Howard will be going to Houston or whatever other team is holding on to the dream that Howard could be the missing championship piece for them this season.
