When Vancouver will move Luongo

08:27 AM ET 07.24 | Mike Gillis probably has a lot on his mind these days, from Shea Weber to Shane Doan, both of whom interested the Canucks, but Roberto Luongo is in a different boat -- possibly one out of town. Gillis hasn't spoken with his former starting goaltender in a while and stated, in general, "there's nothing new to report." He suggested more activity could percolate in mid-August. "As you get closer to the season, things begin to pick up as teams see their needs." On the market for Luongo, there have been real deals on the table. Gillis hasn't been motivated to move, though he suggested that could evolve with time. "We've been given solid offers. Nothing we would do today. We're going to continue the process with the teams that are interested."

1) Yes, you evaluate your needs...but an alledged #1 goalie? Pretty sure even Scott Howson (now the euphemism for bad GMs....Milbury laughed at him yesterday!) could know that before August
2) To thwe 2nd point, he wants to be sure he doesn't get taken to the cleaners, ala` Mr. Howson

also...so nash is done, Selanne is resigned....so now we have this guy and Weber (though almost certainly going to Philly?) and Alfredsson....they love speculation here, and then they love to say why he went here andnot there...all conjecture of course....feh

There's no need to rush. Season may not start (if at all) until Thanksgiving or later.

That was my first thought, but I guess he can't say that.

When will Vancouver move Luongo? Lets just say its going to have to get a lot colder before they do.

Don't want to pile on poor Scott for a bad trade but TSN just reported that UPS delivered a case of Preperation H to him.

completely different, the goal with Luongoal is to unload his salary. If they get something decent in return its a bonus. Nobody in the NHL truly believes that Roberta is still legit, whereas you would be hard pressed to find someone that doesnt think Nash still has ALOT to offer (Rex might be the only one).

I'm going to try to stop saying anything about it too. My attitude has been too negative lately. Gotta be positive (for a change).

I think it may be more than that. He doesn't want to be there, and it works out well, because they don't want him. And for all of the crap he (deservedly) gets in these threads, he can still start on a LOT of teams out there, so I think there's more than salary at issue.

I read a while back that If the Loubot does not expand his list of destinations the Cannots may stick him in the minors to change his thinking. Now that would be nasty ;-0

if he doesnt wanna be there & the team doesnt want him, seems like the best bet is to get rid of him before camp. If they get something good, GREAT, but otherwise they're only helping themselves by dumping a headache.

If Luongo was signed to a reasonable contract I would definitely agree that Vancouver should get something decent in return...but given how bad the contract is I would think that, started or not, they won't get much in return. Just accepting to take him off of Vancouver's hands is a major gamble. It's a huge investment for a guy that (I believe) doesn't have much left in the tank.

It's all so heartbreakingly funny.

I think hes gonna go to Florida but Theodores NTC is getting in the way.....so that leaves TO...just ship 'em Reimer plus a #1 draft pick.

With the amount of money Rinne and Price and Quick got the Luongo cap hit doesn't sound so bad it's the year but lets face it it's really a 6 year contract thing is he's far more attractive to teams trying to become perennial playoff teams instead of lottery teams don't be surprised if Howson tries again to get Luongo
