08:00 AM ET 07.25 | Sympathetic Browns fans point to the team's defense ranking among the top 10 in total yards allowed, numbers that may be deceiving. [Opponents' total offensive yards] were often diminished because teams led the Browns on the scoreboard and milked the clock. ... [The] Browns' four wins last year were all over teams struggling at the time, and with each team hampered by quarterback problems. Cleveland's 2011 wins: 27-19 at Indianapolis with Colts' quarterback Kerry Collins brought out of retirement because of Peyton Manning's neck injury; 17-16 over Miami and mediocre Dolphins' QB Chad Henne; 6-3 over Seattle and Seahawks' backup QB Charlie Whitehurst; 14-10 over Jacksonville and the Jaguars' struggling rookie QB, Blaine Gabbert.

Like the folks at Kentucky and Mississippi State who play football in the mighty SEC, Browns fans can bask in the glories of the Steelers and Raens and say: "Go AFC North!"

That's what I thought when I read the headline. I was pretty surprised that the article agreed with us.

Can we zoom out on that picture of Mike Holmgren? I wanna see if there's a salt shaker on the table in front of him.

Disagree. Stats help to tell the story, but they don't tell the whole story. I think only two of the four wins mentioned here were gimmes, but not the other two. And BTW, a perfect game in baseball against a cellar-team is still a perfect game and the performance of the winning team and pitcher matter, not the record of the loser. So, in that vein, a win for Cleveland was a win for Cleveland.
