Promising Bulls fading fast

08:07 AM ET 07.25 | Where have the title-threatening Bulls gone? The team is built around beloved homegrown point guard Derrick Rose. Last season, there was tall Joakim Noah to rebound and defend, big Carlos Boozer to score and rebound, lithe Luol Deng to do everything, slippery Rip Hamilton to receive assists from Rose and Rose himself to be a rolling hand grenade. And then the Mob would descend on foes like a plague of locusts. That was the plan. That's how it worked -- for a time. Then came chaos. Noah, Boozer, Deng, Hamilton, and Rose are still here. But who is healthy? Who is certain? What is there to stand in the way of a possible Heat dynasty? ... [It's] all kind of up in the air for the Bulls, isn't it?

It only takes one major injury

As long as Rose comes back and do some of the things he did before, they should be fine. I think the Bench Mob was more of a reflection on Thibs than the talents of the players; which leads me to believe other cogs can be put in fill the gaps where we lost players. Butler, Mirotic, and Teagues are all decent players with TONS of room to improve. Trade Deng's contract at the deadline and amnesty Boozer next time you have a chance and we should be fine.

I'm just talking down the road a little. I just think the Bulls have the right cornerstones (hard-working coach and a superstar who buys into the system completely) in place to make multiple runs at the title using different groups of players.

I think they're getting ready to be mediocre this year w/ the moves they made. The New CBA is showing it's effects on a team. Teams are signing free agents to shorter terms and are really watching their cap w/ the exception of the Nets who don't really care about the cap and their future.

Yeah most teams are being very cap conscious except the Nets. That owner must have money to burn or he really thinks he can flip a Lopez and Humphries into a Howard via trade. No one is going as aggressively as the Nets owner with regards to the cap

It was good while it lasted!!!

"we should be fine" means make the playoffs as 7-8 seed? perhaps
Championship contender? Not even close. That boat has sailed with Rose's knee.

Rose buys into the system because he dominates the ball? He is the first and the last shot taker, as it should be for a superstar. Deng doesnt get enough credit, he kept them afloat just as much as Rose

QUOTE(#11):

The Nets are way over the cap. They don't have cap room anymore for many years to come. Marshon Brooks would be the next player to max. They can max their own player but they'll have to offer the minimum for all free agents wanting to play for the nets including Dwight.

I agree they are almost stuck with what they have
