Brewers are 'open for business'

08:09 AM ET 07.26 | The Brewers may be on the verge of a major overhaul, but it won't happen overnight. Milwaukee just hit the "sell" button as it concluded a winless six-game trip -- as one rival put it, "the Brewers are open for business" -- so a major undertaking such as a [Zack Greinke] trade wasn't expected to be arranged within a day. The Brewers are resigned to Greinke leaving, sources said, as he hasn't shown any interest in re-signing there and giving up his free agency following the Brewers' $100-million-plus, five-year offer to him a few weeks ago, a proposal first reported by CBSSports.com. Additionally, the Brewers might consider trades for third baseman Aramis Ramirez, reliever Francisco Rodriguez, catcher George Kottaras and veteran starter Randy Wolf.

I'd like to see the Tigers kick the tires on Corey Hart.

Tigers have too many fat sluggers in the lineup. Hart, while better defensively, isn't exactly Ichiro or Willie McGee out there. The Tigers need some defensive help.
Infante is a start, but trading away guys such as Peralta, Delmon Young and others would allow them to bring in more complete players. That would then help the pitching staff.

Milwaukee has had a rough season in terms of injuries, or they might be right there with the Reds and Pirates. That, and the bullpen has sucked.
Trade these guys, and get ready for next year. Everyone goes except Braun.

Their bullpen has imploded. It is responsible for 20 late inning defeats. Pathetic!

Yeah. Axford has looked like the long-time minor leaguer that he was before 2010.

Milwaukee took a shot last year, and it didn't work out, as they came up one game short against the Cardinals.
But, think of the team they could have right now if they hadn't made those moves for Shawn Marcum and Greinke...
LF - Ryan Braun
CF - Lorenzo Cain/Nyjer Morgan
RF - Norichika Aoki
3B - Brett Lawrie
SS - Alcides Escobar
2B - Rickie Weeks
1B - Corey Hart
They could have then used the money from Aramis Ramirez to sign a pitcher. Just a thought.

Beside the recent hot streak he's been on, have you seen Brennan Boesch play this year? He's looked lost at the plate and plays outfield like a Chuck-E-Cheese character. Hart would be a much needed defensive upgrade, with a little pop in his bat. Also, I'm not really in favor of shipping off Peralta, unless there's an upgrade at SS available in the trade. I would love to see the Tigers get soe value for DYoung and even Raburn, if at all possible.
Honestly, I don't think the Tigers really need to make any more adjustments. They have a lineup that is capable of doing what needs to be done, and one of the best pitching rotations in all of baseball. We'll see how it pans out in the autumn months.

I wonder if Ramirez would consider a move to first base? If so, the Rangers could use a bat there.

Yeah, the recent hot streak has helped, but they have defensive shortcomings, and that is being generous. Fat boy at 1B, porky at 3B, chubs in LF, tubby in RF, dough boy at DH, and a SS that should be at 3B.
How much would it help the pitching staff if the Tigers were even average defensively?
They're pretty good, but flawed.
