08:14 AM ET 07.26 | Forgive USC fans for getting a little excited about the idea of Silas Redd in the backfield. [Redd] remains undecided as to whether he will stay at Penn State, a source close to the star running back told ESPN.com. Redd is seriously considering transferring to USC and then entering the 2013 NFL draft, the source said. Penn State's leading rusher last season, Redd was not among the group of players who gathered Wednesday in State College, Pa., to announce their support of the embattled football program. ... In the 48 hours since the NCAA levied unprecedented sanctions against the program, an extraordinary recruiting frenzy has played out on Penn State's campus, where players are working out.

Tough spot for all of these kids. Admire the loyalty if they stay, but can't blame them if they go. Be smart on this one Silas.

If he's going just to fill out the depth chart, then don't go...if he's going to start, then go.

Yes, and one more year in college will up his draft value. Redd's landing at SC will be a very good team better. Depending on Barkley's play, USC will be in the top 10 all season.

Correct me ICE, but wouldn't he be 2 on depth chart this year? But, with that O, that is still a lot of touches. Then, as he says, done. Get out before the depth is a real issue the following year.

Are you kidding? Exposure...he'd have amazing exposure at PSU. If you haven't noticed, they are the center of the Universe right now and with the "core" players staying at PSU for this season, he would be highlighted every week because they will talk about PSU and highlight their progress every week...thoroughly & in-depth. That's coverage he is seeking and he doesn't even realize it. I don't blame him if he goes either, however the argument that he'll get more exposure out West is erroneous, in my opinion.

I think PSU exposure will be lacking in the Bowl season...unless you count the shower exposure!

If you're a good enough player, the scouts will find you anywhere--even in Division II.
Every draft, there are players that seemingly come out of nowhere to make it big in the NFL.
Redd is already on scout's radar.

Yeah, he would be 2 on the chart. But like you said, plenty of opportunity for touches. With Barkley, Woods, and Lee, opposing D's will not be crowding the line very much. Redd would provide valuable depth, and take the role Madden would have had if he had not gotten hurt. Nothing but upside for him to come out here. We shall see.
