08:18 AM ET 07.26 | While attending Wednesday afternoon's Mariners game, Wayne Gretzky shared a handshake with Derek Jeter. It turns out a good baseball game may not be the only reason the Canadian legend dropped in for a Puget Sound visit. Dave Mahler of KJR reports that Gretzky is meeting with Bellevue officials to talk about the possibility of bringing the NHL to the area. Chris Hansen has said that he and his investment group would bring in an NBA team if his arena plan is approved by Seattle City and King County councils. As for the investment opportunity for a professional hockey team, Hansen has left that open for other interested investors. ... Hansen has spent more than $35 million on land in the SoDo district for the potential arena.

so the race is on - who gets a relocation first? Seattle, KC, Quebec City?
my money is still on Quebec City

Definitely Seattle. QC government is too unstable, an election in September could totally change the political landscape in La Belle Province.

I think this also, though QC should get another team.

Good argument and it very well may be true. I'm still betting on Quebec City getting the next team...........by re-location probably. My track record on predictions is pretty good. For example, I think tonight will be dark (maybe).

As long as the NHL doesn't expand, I don't mind if another team is relocated to Seattle.

Call them the Seattle Eruptions and then sign Semin to a long term contract.

July 26, 2012  09:30 AM ET

When the Sonics return, I will watch the NBA again. I'll also be present for that first game. That's the night Gary Payton #20 goes into the rafters next to Nate McMillin #10. Can't wait for that to happen. Hopefully it all comes together. Until then, piss on you Clay Bennett.

I don't know whether Canuck and Spiny have had a bad influence on you.........or whether it's the other way around?

I saw a special about the Supersonics move to OKC on CNBC and I'm pretty sure OKC has all the records, retired numbers, etc. So if the Sonics get a team back, they are a new franchise, not the one that won the title in 1979 and had retired numbers of Gary Payton. I hope I'm wrong because I hate what the OKC owner did to Seattle when he bought the team a few years back, but I think that was in the original agreement from the city.

When the Sonic returns, I'll to dig up my Sega console and play a few games, just for old times sake! But, if you wanna talk NBA ****? Go to the NBA thread! This is a criminal minded free zone!
