08:12 AM ET 07.27 | So long, Zack Greinke. [The Brewers ace] will definitely be traded before Tuesday's non-waiver trade deadline, Brewers general manager Doug Melvin told USA TODAY Sports. The Brewers haven't had contract negotiations with Greinke since spring training, Melvin said Thursday in a telephone interview, and was informed that Greinke wants to test the free-agent market. "I don't think Zack is about the money personally," Melvin said. "You get a young guy that's [28], and in my conversations with him, you get a chance to be a free agent one time. You've got to look at that opportunity." ... The Texas Rangers, Atlanta Braves, Chicago White Sox and Los Angeles Angels have all heavily pursued Greinke.

I think the Rangers deal for Greinke, but don't be shocked if somehow Kenny Williams picks him up for the White Sox. The guy likes to deal.

Grienke to the Dodgers would make a fantastic 1 - 2 punch for them. Add Hamilton in the off season and look out.

Gotta say, that could be a possibility. A lineup with Kemp-Hamilton-HanRam-Ethier has potential, and a staff fronted by Kershaw-Greinke could be tough.
But, doubtful that all that happens.

the rangers and white sox have much advantage for two top starters, garza its in the trade block, greinke its leading the way, cliff lee its avaiable for any taker for the right top prospects, dempster could jump in the wagon at any time, so yes there its plenty arms avaiable, now we only need some brave GM who aren't afraid to trade top prospects!!!!

By insisting that he wants to test free-agency, Melvin is lowering the possible take for trading Greinke--unless everyone already knows or believes that. Clubs are definitely getting a 2 month rental

The Angels have him. The West will begin to challenge the East for supremacy if this keeps up. The Angels and Rangers are as good as any team out there. The Yankees are spending less while the Rangers and Angels keep getting stronger. The Red Sox pitching has simply fallen apart.

Angels strike first. It's now up to the Yankees (sorry, Ichiro won't put them over the edge) and Rangers to match them. Hmmmm...
