08:18 AM ET 07.28 | Some boo-birds have nested at Rangers Ballpark, and the primary target those displeased fans dumped on Friday night was Josh Hamilton. Four-plus years of wild applause and unbridled love for one of the most talented players in the game has been worn away for some by a July that continues to get worse for Hamilton, who started the season playing at an MVP level. His performance in the opener of a three-game series against Chicago ultimately was a mixed bag. He drove in two runs, but went 0 for 4 and looked shaky defensively as the White Sox rallied for a 9-5 win. Yu Darvish (11-7) lost for the first time in his professional career, spanning 60 decisions, when his team had scored at least four runs. He allowed all six, though one was unearned and another scored after Hamilton misplayed a flyball in the first. He acknowledged afterward that he heard the boos, mostly after he struck out in the third and fifth innings. "I noticed, but it's all about what have you done for me lately no matter who you are," said Hamilton, who is hitting .145 (10 for 69) this month. "There are still more fans who are still cheering and encouraging me than the ones who are booing. I'll pray for the ones that are [booing], and I appreciate the support of the other ones."

damn.....ranger fans sure have gotten spoiled REAL fast.even guys like Albert have slumps- keep booing though....its a great motivator for a player to leave in his walk year- the louder the boos, the sharper those pinstripes are going to look on him

I don't think they really intended to sign him to a long term deal anyway.

Well, we try to buy from the US, but it is harder than it seems. It turned out my Chrysler was made in Mexico from mostly Japanese parts; so next time I bought a Subaru that was made in Indiana from mostly Japanese parts--at least there were some American jobs involved. Chances are good that shoes were made in China or other off-shore locations. Any over-the-counter, generic medications likely came from China, etc.

Praying for the people who boo? I would be praying for the people who are still cheering his plummeting performance - they may be delusional.

......hambone maybe got a lil full of himslef and the sideshow which is his life....sned him down to triple a to get hsi act together....

when you play great baseball you become a cornerstone player, but if you fail or just blink a little bit then every fan who supports you would likely pressure you and would let you know that somebody its watching you, but not everything its lost, remember any time the fans boo you they are motivating you at the same time!!!

July 28, 2012  04:05 PM ET

the rangers should motivate hamilton in their own way how? make those trade become reality and you would see how well hamilton starts swinging the bat!!

July 28, 2012  04:07 PM ET

the rangers are well aware, in their rotation the rangers lack in # one ace , darvish and david holland could become their top ace but until its proved otherwise,,,

July 28, 2012  04:11 PM ET

rangers don't have any luxury treshhold problems, they have the money, they have the right prospects, they have plenty fan attendance, what else they want to be more serious about this trades?? oh rihgt the franchise refuse to give up their top prospects, but don't forget it takes some good quality product from your minor league system to get another top quality elite and well talented pitcher/s,,,,

July 28, 2012  04:15 PM ET

i know the rangers are depleted with top talent in their minors, but if they are too doubtfull in given up their # 1 prospects then they should throw in a type of players like kinsler or napoli, or andrew jones, heck they even can throw hamilton, and those rangers would get those top quality pitchers like, CLIFF LEE AND JOSH JOHNSON, NO KIDDINNG!!

July 28, 2012  04:18 PM ET

in order to get top quality pitchers, the rangers or any team needs to give top quality as well, there are times that you may have to throw everything in the table and hope to get the best in return,,,, but everything has to do with SACRIFICE!!!

July 28, 2012  04:21 PM ET

the rangers are a very doubtfull franchise, from 1 to 1000 if the rangers do offer their best prospects to the phillies for clif lee, the phillies wouldn't hesitate at all in trading lee as long its the right product,,,,,,,
