10:39 AM ET 07.28 | Penn State linebacker Khairi Fortt will visit Cal this weekend, the Stamford (Conn.) Advocate reported Friday. Fortt, a 6-foot-2, 238-pound junior, was expected to compete for the starting middle linebacker job at Linebacker U this fall. He was recruited by the Golden Bears in 2009, but chose the Nittany Lions. According to the Advocate, the Stamford native flew to the Bay Area on Friday. The Cal trip is the only one Fortt has planned so far, the report said, but he is being actively pursued by UConn and Baylor, too. Fortt's father, Guy Fortt, said his son is considering offers from several schools. " TCU, UConn, Kansas, Washington, Auburn, Baylor, FSU, Vanderbilt and several others told him he has a scholarship at their program," Guy Fortt told ESPN.com. "He is torn, but I think he is doing his due diligence and evaluating his options."

+1. Makes perfect sense once you look up all the definitions. Travel to PA often and a funk has descended on many.

This cognitive dissonance for PSU players is going to be the norm for the time being. Don't know if coach O'Brien can hold the team together.

Don't know if anyone could under the circumstances.

O'Brien should just cut the guy Fortt immediately from his roster. Loyalty is important. Plus Fortt isn't that good. Dump him and flush away.

I don't think he can this is part of the NCAA sanctions.

I watched much of the B1G media day on BTN. Nearly all the coaches are taking the stance of not initiating contact with Penn State players. Most will respond if approached by the player or his parent, or high school coach. I think this is a good approach. Only Purdue and Illinois are actively recruiting Penn State kids.

I thought MSU left it open to anyone they recruited in the past they would be interested in having a conversation. It is only good business for all three parties.

I have a question is it better off that he transfers or gets cut from the team from a scholarship standpoint. I understand the emotional side and it is better off that he is cut!

Linebacker U is full up at LB. Might ought to just stay at Penn State.

My niece teaches in the English department at UT. I think she still wonders about me. Gets tickled when I use "y'all's", "contemporaneously" and "ain't" in the same sentence.

Sounds perfectly fine to me!
