Barkley helped create Heisman Trophy app

09:35 AM ET 07.29 | Matt Barkley envisions his main role in any Heisman Trophy campaign to be devoid of endless interviews, slickly produced highlight reels, social media posts, high-tech phone applications and promotional gimmicks. "My campaign," the USC quarterback says, "is on the field." Barkley, though, easily handled a bull-rush of attention at Pac-12 Conference media day earlier this week. He saw the demands coming the second he passed on the opportunity to turn pro and announced he would return to USC for his senior season. And the self-described "tech nerd" even had a hand in developing what USC hopes will be a fan-friendly mobile app to promote Barkley and deliver information about the Trojans. The school billed the app "PROJECT TRO7AN," a play on Barkley's jersey number. But USC also is attempting to avoid oversaturation.

USC is going to keep something called Project Trojan from being oversaturated. Good luck to the people of Troy.

I don't think Barkley will win the Heisman this year. IMO a guy like VT QB Logan Thomas has a good shot. Most college football fans like a "flashy" type of player (like RG3) and Barkley, IMO is not "flashy", he is just a very solid workman like QB. Another reason I don't think Barjkley will win the Heisman , is because I think USC running game will be better this year and Matt won't have to pass as much as last year. Just my opinion.

Hawaii pulls off the upset in the opener Sept 1st. You heard it here first, text that to your Trojan buddies.

Why would Barkley want to win the Heisman? Wouldn't he rather be a success in the NFL.

Two words, Norm Chow. Place your bets people, Its at USC so the spread will be 30 but that wont matter because the Warriors will win by7.

Ok Van, I will play along. Let's use your example. Yeah Norm is a great offensive mind (although it hasn't shown lately). You do realize they have to play D as well right??? We will have way to many weapons, for them to keep pace. What else ya got???

Hey you guys have been known to trip up from time to time, most recent was with the Sun Devils 43-22. Heck the Bruins where able to beat them. And what was up with that final score against the Gophers?! 19-17, just say'in.

That we have. It's not normally early though. We seem to win the first few, then completely crap the bed. I don't see that happening this year. Especially not in the opener, sure as sheet not in Nov either.

If nothing else, the Irish will be heavily tested prior to that game.
