08:10 AM ET 07.30 | The saga may finally be nearing its end. With Dwight Howard reiterating his wish to be traded, multiple league sources predict the Orlando Magic will again step up efforts to find their All-Star center a new team. Several of those sources told FOX Sports Ohio on Saturday they believe Howard could be traded by the end of next week. Howard has been at the center of trade rumors for the better part of a year. He met with new Magic general manager Rob Hennigan last week, and according to reports, said he would still like to be dealt. ... While some sources said the Magic could possibly hold on to Howard until the February trading deadline, the majority seem to think the team will again try working the phones to see what develops.

I can't help but go back and forth on this. Which player is better for L.A.? Bynum is younger and a much more polished offensive player. He puts up pretty good numbers as the second/third option on an offense without a real point guard. Dwight Howard is an athletic freak who owns the rim defensively. But, as his athleticism goes, much of his game will go with it. He doesn't have great footwork and relies on his quickness and leaping ability to erase mistakes. Once that's gone, Howard will seem pretty ordinary, where as Bynum's footwork and touch will only get better. Bynum isn't a high motor go, though, and he loafs too much. He has a ton of ability defensively, which was evident during their first playoff game, but he isn't always engaged. That's frustrating as a Laker fan. What is more damning: Bad knees or a bad back? Bynum's injuries have been about guys falling into his knees and not necessarily of his own doing, while Dwight's back may not ever allow him to be the player that he once was (see McGrady, Tracy). I'm torn between wanting to see Bynum own the post with a true point guard and wanting to see Howard receive lobs and defend the mistakes that are bound to happen with Steve Nash at the point.

Also, I think that both guys are all talk when it comes to the whole re-signing debate. Neither player is going to leave the additional money of the table from wherever they are, unless Howard somehow stays in Orlando all season. Teams being scared off by Bynum leaving after the season are just silly. This is the same Andrew Bynum that famously said that "there's a bank in every city". Think he's worried about what team he's with?

Has anybody else found it odd that Kobe has been so adamant as of late about Pau Gasol staying in L.A.? I don't remember Kobe coming out like this last season when Pau was flipped for Chris Paul. Or even earlier this offseason when he was (allegedly) almost traded to Atlanta.

So sad that Howard has ruined his image with this mess. He looks like a spoiled rotten kid who can't accept his good fortune.
These divas really make it hard to watch pro sports these days.

That's partly true. Pau has a better mid-range game to compliment this, but Bynum is a much bigger target and better around the rim than Pau is. If they can teach Bynum to properly execute the "roll" to the rim, that would be a thing of beauty.

I laugh at the thought of all the teams believing IF they briefly get Howard (by trading everything except the kitchen sink), that he will stay...since his loyalty and good word can be trusted so.

I don't think it has to do with loyalty. But I don't think that he'd leave the money on the table. That, coupled with the fact that I think he'd so happy to get out of Orlando (though I don't know what's so horrible about living there) he'd stay just about anywhere. That's just my opinion.

I will no longer keep this nonsense going. This is my last comment on the subject until we get something concrete from someone other than "a source.
