Greinke deal 'painful' for Angels

08:12 AM ET 07.30 | Big deals aren't always easy, even if the prize is Zack Greinke. The Los Angeles Angels made their big move Friday, acquiring [Greinke] from the Milwaukee Brewers for shortstop Jean Segura and two minor-league pitchers. At the time, the team also was exploring the trade market for relievers, according to major-league sources. But general manager Jerry Dipoto acknowledged Sunday that the Angels likely would make no further moves before Tuesday's non-waiver deadline at 4 p.m. ET. "That's pretty accurate," Dipoto said. "If we're to do anything else, it would come under the guise of 'creative.' We don't want to dig any deeper into our system. That (the trade with the Brewers) was a painful give."

.....angels have gutted the farm and future in a desparate attempt to stay with the rangers, who have been playing 75% to avoid injuries until now.....rangers meanwhile have watched with amusement at all the scrambling......me thinks the rangers will send a message to the angels this week.....you gambled and lost.....and are now gonna be phillies part two.....

phillies part two..

this would should and could be nothing but the reality for the punchless halos, in 3 games the angels score 3 lousy runs and they were shutt out 2 times in a row,,,

July 30, 2012  11:33 AM ET

the angels need to stop mocking themselves, their rotation got better but their lineup went back to the month of april form,,,

yes, it most be painfull getting greinke but the halos knew that greinke would be a free agent next year, and the halos wouldn't be able to sign him anyways,,,

a rental player its a lost gamble never the least,,,

difference between the two.

the difference between the rangers and angels rotation??? RUN SUPPORT!!!

July 30, 2012  11:40 AM ET

if the rangers get to lost a game the score would likely ended rangers 6 runs, the opposite team 7 runs, on the halos offense its soo weak that they can't even score 6 runs in every game, why?? they do have to many impatient hitters a hitters that they can't work the count, a hitters WHO would prefer to help the opposite pitcher than their own team,,,,

It will be even more "painful

next season would be more painfull when greinke do the walking to the national league,, possible destiny?? the braves or the reds,,,

Pick one: either the Angels are accused of gutting their farm to bring in a FA(Greinke), or accused of failing to trade their prospects for value when their stiock is high (Wood, Mathis, MacPherson).

desparate attempt

this type of approach had have sinked the halos farm system,,,, did the owner and GM knew about it??? offcourse they did except that they did refuse to acknowledge it,,,
