Red Sox want Beckett moved

08:15 AM ET 07.30 | Despite a nice win Sunday night over the Yankees, their would-be AL East rivals are clearly a flawed team. The dysfunctional 2012 Boston Red Sox are trying to rid themselves of a major piece of their 2011 meltdown: Josh Beckett. Boston officials have placed calls to teams including Texas and Atlanta within the last two days gauging interest in the right-hander, multiple major-league sources told Yahoo! Sports on Sunday. While no deal is imminent, Boston has indicated it is willing to eat money on the remaining two-plus years and approximately $37.3 million of Beckett's contract to facilitate a trade, the sources said. As time wanes, the likelihood against a Beckett deal before the Tuesday non-waiver trade deadline grows.

No thanks... I'd rather keep Feldman in the rotation.

It is nice that they took the series in NY. But, it is time to shut down the season. Send Crawford to the surgeon. Trade whomever you can. Bring up the rookies.

One article in Boston says they're trying to trade him and another says they aren't. At this point this isn't even news anymore. If or when they trade him let us know.

I wouldn't give up the last guy on the single A bench for this p.o.s.

He is more than a POS...he is a TREMENDOUS POS!

...he is not so bad, just not worth what the sox paid....not even close....so if they eat money, may not be too bad a pickup for cheap price....change of scenery...

Beckett doesn't want to be in Boston anymore....Boston doesn't want him...change of scenery is definitely in order here.....With Boston willing to eat some $$$$ some playoff contender will take a chance on a guy who is 7-3 lifetime in the playoffs with a 3.07 ERA.......

Well Boston that was your season highlight this week end. Hope you enjoyed it. As for Beckett trade him to a National League team. He certainly can not pitch in the American League.

Some place like S.D.

Hey Schultz. You team seems to have folded the tents in the last 3 weeks. Sorrry to see as I was hoping they would have made a run for it.

My understanding is that Beckett wants to be traded to a team with a fried chicken joint near the stadium.

No shortage of those establishments down here.

Yeah. I'm a Sox fan, and it's time to think about next year. Trade Beckett if possible. If you can move Crawford, do it. If not, get him healthy. Move a few other pieces for younger, cheaper guys.

You might want to check stats from the last few years.

the sox need to clean house. Build around lester and gonzalez. Time to trade ellsbury (no way the sox resign him at a decent price. He's got that **** agent). I'd also dangle pedoria out there and see what you can get in return.

I only wish dicek and lackey would disappear...
