08:17 AM ET 07.30 | On the road to recovery, Andy Pettitte's work ethic and competitiveness might have helped derail his return from a fractured left ankle. An X-ray taken Friday didn't show the amount of healing Dr. Chris Ahmad, the Yankees' team physician, wanted to see. "Obviously it's healing up, but it hasn't healed up as much as [Ahmad] thought," Pettitte told The Post before [Sunday] night's game against the Red Sox at Yankee Stadium. Pettitte, 40, pointed to his workout program on the recent West Coast tour that started in Oakland and ended in Seattle as a possible reason for the slower healing. "In Seattle it swelled up," Pettitte said. "I did a little too much in Seattle. Now I am laying low."

When you get older you don't heal as fast. Plus there is always that chance they he'll tweak the hamstring again. Concidering they didn't plan on him at the start of the season, anything the Yankees got from Pettite at all was a bonus.

I'm sure Andy can find something to help him heal quicker ;)

Andy will be there for us when we need him the most and that should worry a few clubs that plan on participating in the playoffs. We're going to be pretty deep in pitching by then.

Yeah, I'm sure teams are scared of the Yankees "deep" rotation.

Wow! Only one PED joke made by a blind Yankee hating tool! Not bad at all, I guess the SOX nation stopped paying attention to baseball?

Fact: Just about all players took something during the ROID era and anyone who believes otherwise has a child like mentality and probably still believes in the Santa Claus and the tooth fairy.

The Mitchell report was was biased garbage. Wow, someone who work for the red sox somehow only found yankees cheating and somehow missed Big Juicer, Manny, and just about all of the 2004 championship team. I wonder how that happened...

They all cheated at some point, even Willy Mays admitted he would of taken the drugs if they had them when he played and he played in the ROID era.

As a Yankee fan I regrettably have to agree with you. Well maybe he had a point because the Yankees have 5 OK pitchers, but no real #1 Ace pitchers other than CC when he is on. In the playoffs you want at least 2 unbeatable pitchers.

I fear the Yankees are just a good regular season team with 5 OK pitchers and a big bad ball HR hitting offense. This is great now, but in a short series you want a team that 2 unbeatable pitchers and a situational hitting team (Small Ball).

Not saying the Yankees cant win because anyone can win a short series, but no one is shaking in there boots at the prospects of facing CC, kuroda, Nova, Pettitte, Hughes, and Garcia. Any one of them is very beatable this year and do not have the same ring as Verlander, Kershaw, Weaver, and Price.

Someone's a bit sensitive about the subject... :P
