08:06 AM ET 07.31 | Santonio Holmes still has last season on his mind, particularly the Jets' season finale that resulted in his benching in Miami. Holmes finished without a catch in the loss. "It was playoffs on the line and your best receiver doesn't get but two passes thrown his way in 60 minutes of football," Holmes said on ESPN 1050 radio on Monday after practice. "That's just hard to understand when you want everything just as bad as everybody else does and it just doesn't happen. And nobody has the answers for it ... but the scapegoat is answer. And that's what happened." However, Holmes, the face of the locker room dissension that derailed last season, said earlier in the interview that he was at the heart of the problem for being frank to the media."

Why this guy is still on the team after last season is more of a mystery than why they traded for Tebow.

The real mystery is why the Broncos took the Jets offer rather than the Jags offer, which was better. If they did it to entertain us, then I must thank them.

If he's a scapegoat, does that he'll be sacrificed at the 50-yard line on opening day?

I do see some logic in this as the Jets did offer a bigger threat than the Jags. After seeing the polarity created by Tebow in Denver, they probably thought that by getting him into NY, it would just add to the confusion and collapse the team sooner or have an impact on how the AFC East played out.

Ultimately, Elway got Manning and got rid of Tebow. Regardless of wins, Elway never wanted Tebow there because he will never be the QB that Elway wants.
