08:16 AM ET 07.31 | Nate Schierholtz may not be happy with his role with the Giants, but he's also unhappy about a report that he'd asked out of San Francisco. "I haven't said one thing about anything other than baseball in two weeks," said Schierholtz, who told the San Francisco Chronicle earlier this month that he would be open to a change of scenery that would give him the opportunity to play every day. "Nothing has changed at all. My agent knows if anybody is going to say anything (to the Giants), it's me." ... Schierholtz stressed that he is not a malcontent, he loves playing in San Francisco and he hasn't received a harsh reception in the clubhouse following his published comments. But yes, he wants an opportunity to play on an everyday basis.

Why would wanting to play everyday be an issue? Doesn't every player want to be in the lineup everyday?

Six years....23 HRS....119 RBI's ..1300 AB.....Schierholtz...should probably be happy with his roll...if you average it out he's got about 2 full seasons of AB's under his belt..which comes out to approximately 12 HRS and 60 RBIS a year....basically platoon numbers for a platoon player....

Guy might be able to play more elsewhere, but he is not a full time OF.

wow--he gets his wish--SI just posted that the Phillies sent Hunter Pence to the Giants for Scherholtz, a good minor league catching prospect and a couple of minor league pitchers, I think.

Well, he should get a chance in Philly.

yep--he will either play into a starting job, or play out of one. Hope it works out for him; if not, 4th outfielder and pinch hitter beats working for a living any day. Plus get to watch baseball all summer!
