Pelini shielding players from 'constant barrage'

08:20 AM ET 07.31 | It's no coincidence that you don't hear much from Bo Pelini or his players in the offseason. So, why does Pelini restrict media access to his program during summer months? He told me Sunday what I've suspected all along: He is trying to give his program somewhat of a respite from unyielding scrutiny and attention. He does it so players and coaches have some space to perhaps take a deep breath or two. He does it for the sake of perspective -- refreshing, if you ask me. ... Pelini has told me on a few occasions what he told reporters Friday -- that the "constant barrage" of attention on Nebraska's program is more intense than it was at either LSU or Oklahoma.

What else is there to do in Nebraska? Watch corn grow?

Ummmmm does scrutiny not come with the territory of being a major college coach and program?

Pelini is a certified nut with huge anger issues. Probably not sound enough mentally to go on without cracking and imploding in a huge meltdown. Bo will end up in a padded room.

Have yiou ever watched corn grow? It's rivetting! The only problem is it's only a few months out of the year, so we watch football until the next corn season....

Pelini took cursing and spitting lessons from Bill Cowher.

The reason he didn't notice it at LSU was because he wasn't the head coach.

That was a no brainer. The stress as a coordinator, while a lot, is nowhere near what the HC goes through. I have never coached a day in my life but can see from the outside how the stress could easily pile up on the HC. The DC or OC? Heh. That's like saying the Secretary of State has more stress than the President.

You know, with Pelini the HC of Nebraska, one has to wonder how Bama/Saban get even a whisper from the media or general public....

1) Plow the field
2) plant the corn
3) water the corn
4) watch corn grow
5) pick the corn
6) shuck the corn
7) get the corn off the cob
8) pop the corn
9) butter the popped corn
10) watch Cornhusker football

There is a lot to in Nebraska!
The people in Omaha get to listen to Van talk about Notre Dame, all day and all night.

Go Huskers--2012 Big 10 champs!!
(and for Van, Go Irish)

It's the offseason and it's still July!! It's the best I can do.

A natural casing dog, smoked, then blistered, then cooled, then skewered on a properly stout stick, then hand dipped in corn meal batter, then fried to golden brown perfection, and served hot... This is one of the quintesential components of manna (another being mustard).

I just throw em into the microwave for a minute or two then pop a cold one.

[Gasp!] Them things be "corn dog product." I thought we were discussing one of the greatest culinary inventions since the dawn of time.... the true corn dog [celestial music].

2,875,000 reasons that he should just deal with it! http://dataomaha.com/panorama/Bo-Pelinis-revised-contract. I've been to Lincoln and you would have to more than double that figure to get me to move there.
