08:09 AM ET 08.01 | There's a new offensive sheriff in town, and his name is Todd Haley. [Haley's] not going to turn the offense back into a 55-45 run-pass ratio, and it's possible the team will pass more often than run. But the run and the pass could look different this season. Even the defensive players have noticed the stark differences. "Absolutely," Troy Polamalu said. "I see what you guys all see. Obviously, there's a lot more two-back offense and utilizing the fullback a lot more." And, in the passing game, "they are higher-percentage passes." Haley's offense opened its first 11-on-11 team practice in pads Saturday by running on nearly every play. He noted that merely was the plan to start out with the run. Perhaps, but it seemed to set a tone for training camp.

This is a good spot got Haley to end up. His no-nonsense approach fits in perfectly.

This isn't a team that makes a lot of mistakes, either on the field or in the preparation. But, you can only be a run-first offense if you've got a D you can rely on to keep the score down.

This is now far from a running league. Sumpin tells me They're not paying Roethlisberger to just hand the ball off.

I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree on that. Best team in the AFC North, yes, but not the whole AFC.

After losing to Denver in the playoffs last year, I think they might have a bit of an attitude this year. And I haven't heard them speak a word about it, which usually means they are planning to let their play speak for them. Look out AFC North.

These sportswriters are idiots. They go by gut feelings and initial impressions, when spending just a few minutes on the numbers makes it pretty clear what's really going on with the new Steelers offense.
Haley was not brought in to make the Steelers run more often. We were right on par with the league average for overall attempts. The issue is that Arians used the run very poorly. I mean, Arians had us running over 55 percent of the time on 1st down. Compare that to just over 43 percent for the NY Giants. And in the red zone, with Arians, we weren't even getting 3 yards per carry despite running more than half the time.
Haley is here to fix that. We need to run more effectively. Much, much more effectively. Does that mean that we're going to have 2 thousand-yard running backs? No. It means that when we're goal-to-go and we put the ball in a running back's hands, he will have an offensive line providing push and a dedicated fullback for his lead blocker.

None of this matters if the line "blocks" the way they did (or didnt) last year

Sorry to burst your bubble, not even in the AFC North. Patriots is still the best in the AFC and the Ravens in the division since they swept the division last year and went to the AFC Championship.

I agree about the Pats, even if I weren't a fan.
But, I wouldn't go by last year's record to say who's best in the AFC North. Baltimore has lost Suggs for the year, and Ray Lewis is a year older at an age where physical ability starts to drop off. It will still be a competitive division, the best division in the AFC, but I'd give the edge to Pittsburgh for this season.

Steelers has lost as much the Ravens. Heck, they even have to learn a new offense now. Yes, the Ravens lost Suggs but it has always been the next man up. AT, Bart, in the past have left but the Ravens D has remained a force to reckon with. You say you cannot go with last years record? You cannot discount the fact they swept the division. As far as Ray Lewis is a year older, who cares? Pundits have been saying that for years and he has learned to adjust. I don't see significant drop off from his performance.
