Alabama's main concern

08:20 AM ET 08.01 | The title defense, though Nick Saban would prefer it not be characterized as such, will soon be underway in earnest. [With] practice set to start Friday, Alabama fans are sweating about the depth at quarterback. Of the five biggest questions heading into August, the big one isn't who would replace McCarron in the event of an injury. It's this: 1. Would the Tide be doomed if McCarron goes down? Phillip Ely is the backup. He was redshirted as a freshman last year. This year, freshman Alec Morris would seem to be a good bet to be redshirted. Redshirt sophomore Blake Sims still is listed on the roster as a running back, but it will be interesting to see if the former high school quarterback spends any time at his old position in preseason camp.

Agree. Saban, like any other good coach would adjust the offense to focus on the other options. The difference is, Bama has other options that are just as good or better than just relying on a QB. Many others don't have the talent in the "other" options that teams like Bama have.

I think Alabamas main concern is to get Saban a new suit because that one there is pretty ugly.

That is not what the aggies say!!! The simple fact the bear took a quick dump in their woods is what is their claim to football fame!!! :-) (gotta stir the pot for fun this a.m.)

If McCarron goes down Alabama will be a good team, but not a contender anymore. They're going to have to rely on the offense more this year as they break in a new defense. Yeah, they'll win several games, but the big ones will get them if their offense isn't 100%. Same goes for their offensive line. If they lose a couple starters to injuries, they'll no longer be a contender.

True of just about any team and their starting QB. Where would USC be? Same for pretty much every team on the OL, too.

He's short, but I think you can tell by his accomplishments, he has balls the size of King Kong's.
