Bears' Forte comes out ... grumpy

08:08 AM ET 08.02 | With a week until Chicago's preseason opener, it's still awfully early to make position pronouncements, but there are certainly tea leaves. If you believe the eye test, third-year offensive lineman J'Marcus Webb is the leading candidate to protect Jay Cutler's blind side as the Bears' starting left tackle. Webb has done well during one-on-one pass-rushing drills and received plenty of repetitions with the first team. ... Bears running back Matt Forte is grumpy, and that might be a good thing for the team. Forte has waved off some interviews and muttered through others, possibly because he still is angry about media criticism during his contract dispute. Add that anger to a muscle-packed frame, and Forte could have another Pro Bowl season.

At least he isn't with Doc.
These writers would suck at the boardwalk. "You look grumpy. You are big, strong, man. You will have great season." (Make sure to read in your best Romanian Gypsy accent.)

I suppose they called the team "Bears" because Forte isn't the first football player to be sort of cranky.

Good thing they added "grumpy" to the headline. Otherwise, that story was going in a completely different direction.

What the hey? The "Northwestern Herald serving McHenry county?" You notice that the report says "some" not "all interviews." You think Forte is going to be bothered interviewing with a paper that has a circulation of five? In Green Acres, we never heard of this rag. The Webb info comes direct from the Tribune. Some intern wrote this tripe.

umm the northwest herald is the newspaper for the northern suburbs of Illinois. I live 20 min north of the city and this is the local paper for Mchenry County. Isnt green acres down by Springfield? Of course you havent heard of it because you live 2 hours away from the City, I dont expect to see anything from the Green Acres paper anytime soon as I havent even heard of that rag.

Check out "Tom Musick," who actually lives in Chicago. This is an example of his ace reporting:
"Bears running back Matt Forte is grumpy, and that might be a good thing for the team.
Forte has waved off some interviews and muttered through others, possibly because he still is angry about media criticism during his contract dispute. Add that anger to a muscle-packed frame, and Forte could have another Pro Bowl season."
Hard hitting, credible journalism is always characterized by words like "might," "possibly," and "could have." The Northwest Herald looks like another Journatic catastrophe. Good for you to be able to make distinctions between good journalism and tripe. Oh and by the way, we get the Trib, Sun-Times, etc. out here in Green Acres daily. I guess that's not possible in the fair city of Crystal Lake and maybe that's why you don't know journalism from soiled t.p.
