08:21 AM ET 08.02 | Rangers manager Ron Washington took the occasion of a Wednesday radio interview to add to the intrigue surrounding Josh Hamilton. Over the weekend, Hamilton hinted that there was more to the prolonged slump or what was bothering him: "The frustrating part is dealing with (the media) and not being able to share everything with you guys. When the time is right, you guys will be right in the loop." On Wednesday, Washington said he was aware of the problem but that Hamilton is the only person who can address it, since he brought it up: ... "It has nothing to do with injuries. Josh is the one that made the statement and got all the inquiries going, and I think Josh is the one that has to put a rest to the inquiries, not Ron Washington. I can just tell you one thing: It is not because he's hurt."

Why would Washington bother dangling that bit of information if he is not allowed to elaborate? That comment is only going to lead to a flurry of speculation.

If I am a reporter in Big D it should not be hard to figure out Hamilton problem. They said he is not injured, you know he not broke, so the only thing left is old country classic - Tonight the Bottle Left Me Down.

Or family problems--you would think if he was drinking he would just say "oops, fell off the wagon." Not talking about it sounds like it involves other people.

What a dumb statement by Hamilton to put it out there.

It will be very interesting to see what Hamilton gets on the free agent market. Teams simply don't want to hand a former addict, who is still having some sort of emotional problems, $100 million. I hope the guy gets things together, but this guy clearly has some demons.

which is why he won't be back with the Rangers unless he takes a huge discount, otherwise he will probably get stupid Yankee money thrown at him. Yes..those demons win out more often than not.

Hamilton will get a big deal somewhere, but I don't think it will be in Texas.
