GM dials up heat on Warriors

08:13 AM ET 08.02 | For his part, Carl Landry said he wanted to join a team that wasn't playing for a draft pick. The Warriors introduced Landry, and reintroduced swingman Brandon Rush, on Wednesday. Both free agents signed two-year, $8 million contracts with the Warriors (each having a player option on the second year). With the signings, Warriors general manager Bob Myers said the heavy lifting with the roster is done. Now that the dust has settled, and presuming good health, is this roster good enough to make the playoffs? "I'd be disappointed (if we don't)," Myers said via conference call. "I don't want that to turn into me saying we're a playoff team. But I would say that we're going in that direction. ... We expect to compete."

They'll be in the playoffs no problem... don't know if they'll do much but they'll definitely make the post season

Over who?

OKC
LAL
Spurs
Mavs

Put your $$$ where your mouth is. The Warriors won't sniff the playoffs any time soon.

I became a Warriors fan in the 70's. Since that time, they've made bonehead move after bonehead move. I mean this is a team that drafted Todd freakin' Fuller, and left Kobe Bryant, Steve Nash, and Peja Stojakovic on the board. They couldn't spot talent if they tripped over it. Expect nothing. That's likely what you'll get.

QUOTE(#14):

The Warriors suck. They can never seem to put together a really competitive team. If not for their first round upset of the Mavericks they would be have sucked for the past couple of decades.

It's the Don Nelson curse. You know, when they had Chris Webber, he alienated him with all the shouting and grimacing at anything Webber did that was creative but not part of Nelson's BRILLIANT gameplan, then told the new owner to go ahead, trade him for peanuts, we'll get a good draft slot and pick someone just as good. Twenty years, and still waiting. They always end up in the lottery then get to pick just after the "sure things" are gone. Three great players in the draft? The Warriors pick #4. Eight great players in the draft? The Warriors pick #9. Not to mention, they can't scout worth a nickel.

Then, the new owner, now gone, refuses to sell the team to Larry Ellison and takes a lower offer to sell to two idiots who don't have deep pockets. The Warriors could have had the West Coast equivalent of the Nets deep pockets, but the NBA accepted the lesser deal (because no one (e.g., Dan Snyder of Cleveland, a man a lot like Don Nelson) likes Ellison, he's too competitive).

Upshot? They'll be in the playoffs, the only question is, what century?

The Warriors are going to be improved if they stay healthy and better even if Curry and Bogot limp through this year. They have a nice core and will have another chance for vast improvement in two years when some of their big salaries go off the books and they can sign a legit star that will put them in playoff contention for the years to come. Patience.... we are moving in the right direction.

What big star even considers the Warriors? They've had cap space before. So far, it hasn't gotten them much of anything.

Portland? You must have an awful lot of faith in their rookies ability to lift the team
