08:07 AM ET 08.03 | Has anyone seen Brandon Jacobs? No, that wasn't a new, 6-4 tight end/H-back catching a swing pass along the sideline and then motoring down field earlier this week. It was a new, more svelte, more nimble [Jacobs], who says he feels faster and stronger than he's been in recent years. When Jacobs showed up for the start of spring drills, he weighed 275 pounds. Today he's down to 260 pounds, and he said he's adding muscle in his thighs and gaining some of the burst that critics say went missing from his game in recent years in New York. ... Jacobs said he's more than willing to catch passes for the 49ers, something he didn't do very often recently in New York.

Some times a player needs a change to get revitalized. Jacobs was a great RB for the Giants, but his game got stale over the past couple of years. It was time for a change, and I wish him well.

QUOTE(#6):

This is exactly what aging players always say. Right on schedule he is.

I think SMART, aging players learn what they must do to remain competitive and viable. I wouldn't previously call Jacobs smart but if he's recognizing what he must do to be a key part of the 9ers O then maybe he's catching on. I don't think Harbaugh would keep him around for too long if he wasn't willing or able to adjust his game.

Charles Woodson is playing more S this season for the Pack because he knows he's losing speed against receivers but still is a menace in secondary coverage. Just because he's aging doesn't mean he can't still be effective if he recognizes what he needs to change.

Jacobs hasn't learned anything, trust me.

You may be right. This season will definitely clear that up; he's walking into a good situation.

The first time he does, Harbaugh will yell at him 'til he's hoarse.

We think "How sad...." when a great horse pulls up lame.

But look at it from the horse's point of view. No more getting up at 5 AM, having some guy climb on your back and run you around a dirt oval. Instead, you get let out into a grassy field with a different girl horse every day.

I'll take lame, if I'm a horse. Of course.

Harbaugh has the ability to motivate---some have it---some don't...Jimmy the Master.

it's a shame the interns couldn't find a picture of him to go with this heart-warming story...
