08:13 AM ET 08.03 | In the midst of a dispiriting season, Boston may be looking to bring back one of its playoff heroes. Derek Lowe is returning to his Fort Myers home for a "tune-up" and that's all he thinks he needs to get back on track after the Cleveland Indians designated him for assignment Wednesday. He would love a return to the Red Sox. Lowe said he will go back and work with his longtime personal trainer Chris Correnti, the man who also worked closely with Pedro Martinez for many years when they were all together with the Red Sox. ... "Of course I would," responded Lowe when asked if he'd like to return to the Red Sox. "I just need to go back with Chris and get my stuff right again. I know I will."

Yeah, why not? Bring back Timlin and Myers too. We can start an 04 fantasy camp in the bullpen.

Most of the Fan Nation people believe Mr. Lowe the only chance you have is back in the NL not in the AL, because they say the batters are worse but for some reason they keep winning the WS.

Is that why Beckett has been slumping?

BoSox are a .500 team in 2012, they aren't going to the playoffs. Lowe would at least be something interesting to talk about for a month or two.

He would probably work cheap for the rest of this season, but the Red Sox would have to clear a roster spot for him. The Sox are only 4 games behind Oakland and California for a wild card spot, so I think it is too early to give up on this season. Do they have a rookie they can park in the minors until they find out whether or not Lowe has anything left?

Simple solution.... deal Beckett to Cleveland for Lowe. It opens the roster and rotation spot as well as being addition by subtraction.

Lowe? Okay. Now, how about Youkliss and the guy with the bloody sock? Let's just call this the 2012 alumni team.

The "guy with the bloody sock" is too busy trying to figure out how to stay out of bankruptcy and/or jail after screwing everyone involved in his disaster of a company.

I figured that too. Hey, burn some innings and maybe keep the Sox in games. At this point, I'll take that.

Yes....yes he can be worse than Beckett.
In fact, even through a few trying seasons, Beckett has never been as bad as Lowe was in 2004.
And he's an even worse pitcher now.
