08:10 AM ET 08.03 | Jeff Van Gundy and Tom Thibodeau may have a history together -- Thibodeau was an assistant under Van Gundy with the Knicks and followed Van Gundy to Houston -- but he's keeping his analyst hat on when it comes to his assessment of the Bulls. In an interview with ESPN 1000's "Waddle & Silvy" show, Van Gundy did not have a very optimistic view of the team's chances next season. Mainly citing the teams injuries issues with Derrick Rose, Luol Deng and Rip Hamilton, the former coach said, "Listen, if they win half their games next year and make the playoffs, it's a heck of a year." Earlier in the interview, Van Gundy had foreshadowed his comments by saying, "To lose Rose by itself is going to cost you."

The Bulls could be better than .500 or worse than .500. Only God knows what next season holds for the Bulls. I am not sure the Bulls can make the playoffs with a 41-41 record in the Eastern Conference. Maybe, maybe not. Going to be interesting to watch. Good Friday morning everyone.

Exactly. And it's not like this is some way out there opinion like saying "the Heat won't go .500 next year". It's an analyst giving a wish washy answer on a team that most people aren't expecting to do much. Must be a sloooooooooooooow news day.
