Sabres tough guy 'nervous' to meet new teammate

08:34 AM ET 08.03 | On paper anyway, the Sabres should be a tougher team in 2012-13. Incumbent tough guy Patrick Kaleta was glad the team added Steve Ott -- who like Kaleta is frustrating to play against while better at scoring -- at least from an on-ice perspective. From a personal angle, Kaleta was less sure of the move. "I was a little bit nervous going to Mike Weber's wedding at first," Kaleta conceded, "but I met [Ott] and we buried the hatchet right away." ... Now he insists there's no bad blood between them. "When you play against somebody, you always don't like them right off the bat," Kaleta said. "And [when you become teammates], you're like, 'Oh no, how is this going to go,' but off the ice you realize he's a great guy."

And when I saw the headline, I thought this was going to be a nonsense, filler type story

I thought the same thing after last years showing why would any tough guy be nervous to go to Buffalo but this actually makes a little sense

Mistake trade.

Remember Ott and Avery together in Dallas? Disaster. Having two rats/agitators in their mold is too much for a team, they seem to feed off one another. Tucker and Corson were a disaster near the end as well, a 3-ring circus on the ice.

The Sabres should move Kaleta and let Ott handle that job alone.

So Tootoo and Avery on the same team would be a bad idea? I can only smile if that happened.

OMG now THAT would be worth watching, Even if the team was the NYI

Nervous to meet some dude? Doesn't sound that tough to me. As Sinatra (Phil Hartman) said: "I got chunks of guys tougher than you in my stool"

Ha.

Here goes again....

The novelty of Avery that was in LA (i.e push up after the goal) and his annoying yapping instigator style was quickly caught onto. He rarely dropped the mitts, but rather stuck to the insults etc.

He stint in Dallas and the second stint with the NYR sucked!

His Sloppy Second legacy should live on though....have to admit that was funny.

Me thinks Ott was brought in just to face my Bruins...Buffalo-Boston future match-ups just got a lot more interesting.
