Thunder making Brooks' job difficult

08:07 AM ET 08.06 | The owner of a Coach of the Year award, Scott Brooks is quick to say he has room for improvement. "My job is to get better," the Oklahoma City Thunder coach said shortly after signing a four-year contract extension last month. "I'm not going to stand up here and say that I'm great. I feel like I have a lot of room to improve." ... Over the past two months, OKC has substituted veterans Derek Fisher, Nazr Mohammed and Royal Ivey with Perry Jones III, Hasheem Thabeet and Hollis Thompson. All of the newcomers are younger, cheaper players who don't figure to be in next year's rotation. That puts the pressure of next season squarely on the returning players -- and the man in charge of leading them.

I think Scott Brooks has done a pretty good job as the head coach of the Thunder. I really wish the Thunder hadn't signed Hasheem Thabeet, but what can a fan do? Sam Presti has been golden so far, so maybe he sees something I don't. All I know is that the starting 5 and Harden are back and should be better than a year ago just by virtue of an addional year of maturity, the Olympic games and the experience of playing in the Finals a year ago. Looking forward to a great season!

QUOTE(#7):

ask the okc fans who watch every game and every minute....sooner above and Mrs S when she arrives if what I'm saying is true

I agree KD needs to improve his off the ball stuff...but he needs to bulk up and get stronger to play down on the low block when he needs to. Other than that, he is clutch for the Thunder when the game is on the line. He might disappear at time during the game, but he sure shows up with a bang he reappears...LOL Anyway, good morning all. Just my two cents.

He relaxes an awful lot during games. fact.Didn't say he has to play lights out for 40- but he is REALLY quiet when he's not shootingI am not hating- I just have extremely high expectations on 'franchise' players

I have to agree with JGB.

While KD is the best offensive player, he CAN be a much better overall player. And he simply looks passive without the ball. I have never seen KD displaying a very involved mind set while defending (he's not a bad defender, but just lacks intensity).

I hope he's learned that winning rings means playing 48 minutes with the highest intensity. He's the leader of the team. He needs to show that he means business 48 minutes (even when he's on the bench aka KG!!!)

Until they get a center who can score they ain't going anywhere...Trips to the finals without actually winning still means you haven't won ****!Ask Malone,Reggie Miller,Barkley,Shawn Kemp,Stockton,Ewing and others...

This coming from a fan of a team that doesn't have a center on their team either...seems not having a center worked pretty well for the Heat last year.

Wow...seems like you are questioning his work ethic...every coach in the NBA that has watched him says he is the hardest practicing player they have seen in quite some time in the NBA. I am pretty sure he gets tired at times during those 48 minutes. As for involvement when he is on the bench, I have seen KD standing and cheering on his teamates when he is on the bench...what else is he supposed to do when he's not in the game? Seems to be pretty engaged to me.

KD has even said it himself...he needs to become a better defender. He improved his defense last year and most likely will improve even more this year. It will be fun! :)
