The current CBA is a deal that needs to be nipped and tucked. That's all. ... If the owners shut down the game again, it's truly on them this time. The current deal proved them right. They've grown the game's popularity and lifted the tide of revenue. They got their business in order and now they need to prove to be equally astute in sharing and managing their profits. That's really not a labor issue. It's an ownership, greed, avarice issue. They asked the workers to fix it last time, and they capitulated. Now it's their turn.

Although I do not agree with most of the article, the author has nailed the NHLPA primary argument. The FA deals this summer are generally insane, and make a mockery of any attempt by the owners to cry poor

I don't agree with killing the cap. If a GM overspends not only does he hurt his own team, but he also hurts the other teams whose talent he poached. The general parity of talent in the league has increased its popularity just like it has in football.
I also agree with what the article said about the players giving in to the owners. Revenue is up and its time for the owners to give back a little.

Cap or no cap, it won't make a difference. We live in a time when more is not enough so both sides are going to try to maximize their take. And, as usual, it's the fans that will suffer. I'm just thankful that HD tv is available. I enjoy the games much more at home than dealing with parking, overpriced consessions and seats that require a telescope to see what's happening on the ice.

Not so. There is no such thing as a "bad GM". Unlucky GMs yes, but bad GMs, no.
Remember, no GM got there on his own. They had help along the way.

Even good GMs make mistakes, getting rid ot the guranteed contract makes more sense then killing the cap.
