08:08 AM ET 08.07 | Forgive Chicago Bulls execs for watching Team GB closely. Luol Deng finished Britain's first Olympic basketball victory since 1948 on the bench, a symbolic event with ramifications on both sides of the pond. ... In his strongest implication yet that he either will forego surgery on the torn ligament in his left wrist altogether or postpone it until after the 2012-13 season, Deng said he planned to start camp on time. "Did I look like I needed (surgery)?" Deng said Monday evening. "I'm fine right now. I feel great. There are a lot of things I want to improve in my game that I want to focus on now. I want to be a better player than I was last year. I have time to make decisions and be healthy by the time we start (training camp)."

I don't know why he would put of surgery and hurt the Bulls chances of advancing in the post season or winning games during the regular season; it's not as if he's going to win the gold during the olympics.

And its also not like the Bulls will win many game this season, much less advance in the post season. Not without D.Rose until March? Fuggetaboutit...

At this point, might as well have surgery and miss the season....The worse they do the higher the draft pick

Sorry jgb......but at this point, you're not making sense if the only justification you have for missing the season is a higher draft pick.

BTW......if the ligament is healing on it's own, surgery could do more harm than good. Any Orthopedic Surgeon will tell you that.

Jus' sayin'.........

...........After the Olympics he should have surgery. Why prolong it?

Because if the ligament is healing on it's own, there'd be no need to cut open the wrist.

QUOTE(#17):

it worked for SA with tim duncan.and who says it has healed/is healing?- it might be doing well for now- but who knows if/when it will blow up. All I'm saying is that if his team Drs recommend surgery- then now is a good time to fix it as you guys aren't competing this coming year

Agreed...their win total next year doesn't matter. I'd rather see Deng get the surgery IF that's what doctors deem is best. We'll need Deng 100% the following year when Rose can play a full and hopefully healthy, contending season.
