Tice dares Webb to 'step up and mature'

08:01 AM ET 08.08 | For now, according to Mike Tice, J'Marcus Webb is the Bears' left tackle. However, Webb is far from overwhelming Tice with his play to this point. He'll need to step forward in the exhibition games. If he doesn't, then what? If the Bears thought Williams was a solution at left tackle, he would be there. It's Webb or bust, with the Bears hoping it's not [Jay Cutler] being busted. "I thought one guy would separate himself and really just jump out there," Tice said. "I don't think that has really happened. ... I'm not in a rush to change for change's sake and we're hoping that a guy in his third year, Webb, will step up and mature as a football player and as a person and get better and show us that this means something to him."

Compared to 90% the the T&R stories this is prime stuff. At least it is something that has real implications for the season. Beats the hell out of the usual "unnamed source says absolutely nothing interesting" crapola. And I agree with some of the comments here regarding Cutler. If I were him I'd be concerned and pissed off.
