08:08 AM ET 08.08 | Julio Jones piled up 54 catches, 959 yards and eight touchdowns during his rookie season, but he says he has more in store. When asked about his rookie season, Jones said only, "I was all right." On a scale of 1 to 10? "Maybe five or six." And how do you feel now? "I'm a 10. I feel 100 percent. I know the playbook. [Matt Ryan] and I are on the same page. I have high expectations, not only for myself but for the organization." If the Falcons finally take that next step this season, it will be because of Jones. If he doesn't finish with more receptions than Roddy White, there's an excellent chance he'll at least make more impact plays, steal more moments, win more games. No defender can stay with him in practice.

This team needs to go from "underachieving" to "threat".

'No defender can stay with him in practice'. that's because they don't have much of a defense.

They have all the weapons on paper, but they turn to the old Falcons in the playoffs.

"Guns of Will Sonnet" is good obscurity trivia.

I was thinking more of "The Real McCoys," which the Atlanta Falcons are not.

The Falcons have Marty Schottenheimer Syndrome. Great during the season, then look surprised when they lose in the playoffs.

Confident, not arrogant, I wish the kid a great season.

I hope he can stay healthy. He strikes me as a WR who gets injured pretty easily.

That's the way to start the season, full of confidence, Go Get Um!!!

A good attitude from an elite WR is, I believe, one of the signs of the apocalypse.

Not sure I'd call him "elite" yet...what has he proven? Yeah hes super fast but his rookie year was pretty unimpressive. Hes not even on the level of AJ Green yet..

With all the drafts picks Atlanta gave up to get Jones, he needs to step up even more this year to show he was worth it.

August 8, 2012  11:31 AM ET

I like that he acknowledged that his rookie year wasn't great; constructive self-criticism is the way to improve.

Dr. U I think you need to get your stats together. JJ missed two more games I think and only missed AJ by 100 total yards. JJ had more yards per games and TDs.

August 8, 2012  01:22 PM ET

I think you need to look some stats before commenting. JJ played less games and only missed AJ by 100 yards. JJ had a higher YPG and more TDs. In less time.

Actually, San Diego suffers from The Curse of Marty Schottenheimer (and, since the Ravens used to be the Browns, I guess they do too). It's a completely different malady.
