Miami freshman earns coveted honor

08:21 AM ET 08.08 | Talented freshmen are turning heads at Miami, where Randy "Duke" Johnson and Tracy Howard are showing promise. Howard, the top high school cornerback in the nation out of Miramar High School, was wearing a coveted black jersey Tuesday during [Day 5 of] practice. The black jerseys are worn by first-team players -- considered the best and the brightest. Senior cornerback Brandon McGee, who was previously wearing a black jersey, is not wearing black anymore. ... [Said Howard on National Signing Day:] "Do I feel like I'm going to produce and show out, compete and work hard? Yes. I do. If I do that I'm going to start. I feel like I'm going to go in there, work hard. Do I feel I'm the best? Yes, I feel I'm the best."

Miami's top cornerback collapsed on the practice field this afternoon and was taken to a local area hospital. Though unconfirmed at the time of this writing, it is believed that he has been receiving treatment for heat exhaustion.
