Giants mock Packers' Matthews

08:05 AM ET 08.09 | Clay Matthews prefers to see New York's win at Lambeau this past January as a Packers loss rather than a Giants victory. In response, the current defending champions just looked at their shiny Super Bowl rings and laughed. "Obviously you'd believe that success would breed reality, right?" Justin Tuck told the Daily News before practice on Wednesday. "I guess people love living in Fantasy Land and want to make excuses for the situation." Or as he said earlier, "Thank you for giving us the game, Clay. I appreciate it a lot." "If that's what Clay thinks, so be it," guard Chris Snee added. "I have a brand new ring and we earned every bit of it. We went in there and beat them. He was a non-factor. Maybe that's what he means."

Matthews..............Sour Grapes don't taste good..........

Clay Matthews - "We picked the most inopportune time to play our worst ball. The fact is, (the Giants) didn???t beat us, we beat ourselves."

I have a hunch this will be on the Giants bulletin board in November.

Good comeback by Snee.

There was nothing unexpected about that game. The Packers' defense had been suspect all season, and both Eli and the Giants' defense were healthy and on a roll. As our sage 50 said, it could have been a lot worse.

Well, if you do not play well enough to win, then you do not deserve to win and that is that. It really was not that close of a contest. The 49ers could make this claim, but not the Packers.

I agree with Matthews, the Giants didn't win, Green Bay lost. There's no way Green Bay should have lost that game ................... Did you watch the game? Green Bay 'should have won' and I'm not a Packers fan..... go Philly. Yeah, but, uhm, Green Bay shouldv'e won. They should have won that game.

"Should've won" doesn't count. The scoreboard does, and that game wasn't even close.

The Packers didn't play up to their regular-season level. The Giants played well above their regular-season level.

The story of the playoffs last year was the Giants peaking at just the right time and exposing weak defenses while controlling high-powered offenses.

Mathews made a rockhead statement and is getting mocked for it. I think it's just about time for these guys to start lining up and playing for real.

On any given sunday right?

They lost. The Giants were the better team. If not, the packers would have won.

Kinda elementary.

Exactly. The Packers came unglued at the wrong time and they paid big time. That's it.
