Lakers are giving Bynum reason to leave

08:07 AM ET 08.09 | The Olympic Games offer the Lakers a bit of a reprieve from the saga, but the subplot will return soon enough. Where do things stand for the Lakers, Andrew Bynum and Dwight Howard? That question is best answered with more questions. Are the Lakers still interested in trading for Howard? Yes. ... Is Bynum so annoyed by Lakers officials -- with whom he has not often connected -- dangling him again this offseason in Howard talks that Bynum would turn down more money, more years and more spotlight a year from now and leave the Lakers with nothing in refusing to re-sign with them? Maybe so. And that very real downside threat is a serious angle to the Lakers' understandable but oh-so-slow dance with Howard.

Doesn't seem management stands behind this guy. How would you play if you were always dangled as trade bait?

If you want big money..................Play big money..............
There is no obligation to keep a player.......Just as there is no obligation for a free agent player to stay..........
Quite frankly I am getting sick of the NBA.....

NBA is 100% head games. Byrum is not good at that. And I agree the NBA selfish players are making the league look like it's the 70's

Bynum isn???t that dumb. He knows the only reason the Lakers want him to sign the extension is to have a shot to trade him for Howard mid season. No thanks.. He will rather play out the season and go where he wants to play.. Not traded to. Hopefully he doesn???t get hurt or this will all backfire.

Well, if we're going to lose Andrew anyway, I say we rent Howard. What's the difference when they both were going to walk anyway. Howard just might give us that slight edge and win another L.A. title.
If we do win with DH maybe he'll sign long term in Purple/Gold or at leave us with a Boston Celtics' title tie!

Howard is certainly worth the stretch IMO. Kobe, Howard & Nash in all liklihood beats just about any team. I wouldn't, not at this point, be concern with how Andrew feels. Mr. Bynum can do better for himself by muturing just a tad bit, and secondly, realizes the for one, that he's not as great or as important as he thinks he is!

At least DW shows up on the court. Bynum is a knucklehead on and off the court.
