08:12 AM ET 08.09 | Chicago White Sox captain Paul Konerko missed Wednesday's game, and he may be on the shelf for an extended period with a mild concussion. The first baseman wasn't in the clubhouse before or after Wednesday's game. Konerko was hit in the right temple inadvertently by the elbow of Kansas City's Jarrod Dyson in the seventh inning of Tuesday's loss. Prior to the game, White Sox manager Robin Ventura said Konerko was out of the lineup with general soreness, but said he was available to play if needed. Afterward, Ventura said Konerko had a mild concussion and needs further evaluation on Friday. Ventura didn't dismiss the possibility for Konerko to go on the seven-day DL.

make him wear a batting helmet with extra padding, get him back in there promptly. He might look like Urkel with the big helmet, but he will still hit like Konerko!

Haha I almost forgot about that bet. The White Sox will squeeze everything they can out of Peavy's arm until it falls off (might actually happen), considering there's no way they pick up his $22 million option next year.
