Giants pitcher joining Cy conversation

08:20 AM ET 08.09 | The Giants made things easy on Ryan Vogelsong Wednesday, a favor worth returning in this case. The offense, and Marco Scutaro's seven RBIs, will make the 3D leap off the boxscore. But Vogelsong provided the base of the pyramid yet again. It's been astounding how consistent he's been all season. It's now 19 out of 21 quality starts, and he hasn't failed to complete six innings once. What do you think? From All-Star snub to Cy Young Award winner? I'm not sure if Vogelsong could be considered a favorite at the moment, although he does own the lowest ERA in the NL among qualified starters, at 2.27. There are some who will argue Aroldis Chapman and Craig Kimbrel merit serious attention, and they have a case.

It has been almost 20 years since a bullpen man has won this award and the odds of one of these men winning this year is the same as the Cubs making the playoffs.

Good morning, Dagweed! I liked the notion of "Goo" rock solid pitchers. I suspect your keyboard works about as well as mine. Enjoy your Wednesday!
