08:04 AM ET 08.10 | Cavaliers general manager Chris Grant probably didn't think he had a chance. [Grant] had almost convinced himself that free agent C.J. Miles would be signing elsewhere. After all, he was being pursued by the Los Angeles Lakers, the Houston Rockets and a few other teams. "I didn't think he was a candidate for us," Grant said Thursday at the Cavaliers luncheon at Executive Caterers at Landerhaven in Lyndhurst. "I thought he would go to a different place. He kept coming back to us. He said, 'I want to be here.' It's a place he can jumpstart his career." The Cavs signed the 6-foot-6, 222-pound Miles to a two-year, $4 million contract on Wednesday. The second year of the deal is not guaranteed, a source confirmed.

He wanted to be here! I guess that contradicts the thinking (not sure it is actually thinking) of the NYers here.

Getting Nash at the tail end of his career is not exactly pulling a coup. Getting Dwight is pretty impressive. Especially not giving up Bynum and Gasol. The Lakers are trying for one last hurrah before the new CBA rules kick in and their players get too old.

Nash may be at the tail end of his career, but he is still a top 8 (10 for sure) pg right now in the NBA. So that does still count as a steal. Also adding in the fact that NOONE thought the Lakers would be able to get him.
