Magic simply giving Howard away

08:10 AM ET 08.10 | Just what had Orlando left on the table? Could have had Brook Lopez. Might have had Andrew Bynum. And along the way, the Orlando Magic were linked to everyone from Al Horford, Blake Griffin, Joakim Noah, Stephen Curry, Chandler Parsons and Amare Stoudemire. And after weeks, no months, the sum total of the what-can-Dwight-Howard-fetch-on-the-open-market derby comes down to: Arron Afflalo, Al Harrington, Nikola Vucevic, Moe Harkless and three protected first-round picks? Really? That's the best that not one but two different Magic management teams could come up with during this interminable wait? And the Lakers still get to keep Pau? Wait, what? .... [What] can't be denied is that now starting at center for the Magic is flotsam, being supported in the lineup by jetsam.

They ended the whole drama that's been running since last season. That in itself should be a reason to celebrate.
Now they can focus on playing Ball again.

Hold on. You should wait till Howard signs that contract extension before getting too excited. The drama is still on until July 2013

One last hurrah for the Lakers before Nash retires, Kobe and Pau get too old, and the new collective bargaining taxes hit.

Orlando will be in the lottery for at least 5 years. And, no doubt, they will draft a future Laker or two with those lottery picks.

Bynum wasn???t a lock to stay.. Howard coming from Orlando is finally on a real championship caliber team & could make a boat load of money??? The 2 things he wanted..This is 100% worth the risk. The only concern is long term.. Would he want to stay knowing kobe & Nash have 2-3 years tops left in the tank as elite players. Still scratching my head on how the nets or rockets deal wasn???t better though, but this year is going to be fun to watch.

Well, you kind of figured that Howard would become a Laker. I believe all along that Howard really wanted to play for the Lakers, he didn't want to admit it to the media. However, it came at the expense of Andrew Bynum and all the other guys involved in the trade. However, it was masterful to keep Gasol through all this. When I first got news of the possible trade and it involved Bynum and Gasol; I thought the Lakers were about to lose their minds if both Gasol and Bynum were traded, now the trade makes more sense. I love Bynum and was impressed with his development over the years, the Lakers would have done fine if the team had kept Bynum and not bring in Howard, however, Philly should really enjoy Bynum; the guy is going to be great!
Now the show begins, if Howard can overcome his back situation and the Lakers get on a roll, I believe the sky is the limit, and it may extend some of the older guys careers (Jamison, Kobe, Metta, Gasol, Nash). Even more, the Lakers may have received Chris Duhorn in this trade, a player that will serve well as a possible insurance piece to Nash and Blake. The Lakers do look ligitimate contenders with the addition of Howard if he can produce at a championship level and that's not a knock on Bynum, Bynum was great in a Laker uniform and he deserves to be announced as a great Laker player, it came down to "lets see."

How do I say this; you can't fix stupid. I love it when I'm right. The Magic are officially done. They turned down the New Jersey offer, saying they didn't feel comfortable wagering the future on Brook Lopez; but apparently they'll settle for Nikola freakin' Vucevic and a group of ham & eggers. The Magic front office should be set on fire.
