08:15 AM ET 08.10 | With Baltimore calling up one of the top prosects in baseball, 20-year-old infielder Manny Machado, the next question is easy. Is 19-year-old pitching phenom Dylan Bundy next, perhaps in September? "Let's not get ahead of ourselves," executive vice president Dan Duquette said. ... Duquette said he believes prospects should succeed at Double-A before they are considered for the majors. And Bundy, the club's top pick last year, has yet to pitch above Single-A -- so far anyway. After going 6-3 with a 2.98 ERA in 11 starts at High-A Frederick and not allowing an earned run in 30 innings at Low-A Delmarva this year in his first pro season, Bundy was promoted to Bowie Wednesday night.

Hey hes batting 500 after one game. The left side of the infield will be great and he cant be worse than anyone else who has played third this year. Hey they have hung in all year and I agree with what Duqette said that if they can be a little better they will do it to win now

They're probably rushing Machado a bit ... can't say that I blame them with the production they're getting from some of their infielders. But it would be worse than silly -- it would be counter-productive -- to bring up Bundy now. You don't mess with legit pitching talent. (See: Clyde, David.)

I am sure now the O's are glad they did not deal for Greinke and lost Machado before the trade deadline.

I recall the Cards called up some guy named Hornsby to help with a playoff race--that worked out ok for them.

You don't bring up a guy from A ball at the end of the year because then you still have to send him back possibly to A ball next your or maybe AA. Pitchers at that level still have a lot to learn.

For us Red Sox fans, one of the ironies of this season is that Dan Duquette, in his first season as Orioles GM has put together a team from what used to be an AL East punching bag that is leading the Sox, all season.
Was Theo a flash in the pan, winning with a team Duquette assembled, and would the current Sox team be as entitled and petulant if Dan was still the GM? He wasn't well liked by the players, often because he spoke truth to brats!

I would be careful with Bundy...not so much going against major league hitters, but wearing out his arm. How many pitches has he thrown this year? Innings? So on and so forth...maybe bring him up to the bullpen, like Tampa did with David Price a few years back.

Chen, Hammel, Gonzalez, Meat, Ayala to were all brought in by DD and all played key parts of this season. McPhail(O's Fans punching bag) did put together the core, though.
