Freshman may play Longhorns' Wildcat role

09:55 AM ET 08.11 | The Longhorns have no shortage of candidates to replace Fozzy Whittaker at the wildcat position, taking snaps from center. Some believe the talented freshman TB Johnathan Gray is the best of these candidates. But the most intriguing might be freshman Jalen Overstreet, a quarterback who is built like a tailback. Overstreet could add the element of passing to wildcat plays. "Does he have potential to do it? Absolutely," said Bryan Harsin, UT's co-offensive coordinator. "He can move. He's thrown the ball very well in practice. He's a threat." Even so, Harsin said the coaches must determine if Overstreet would play enough to justify not taking a redshirt season. Harsin also said it's possible they would also use three quarterbacks and that Overstreet could be one of them.

Just looking at Mack Brown makes me want to vomit. paying that old decrepit old slug 5 million year is disgusting. The old Joe Paterno in training should move aside and let a younger coach take over. That's the problem today the old ones do not know when to give it up and realize they are no longer useful or needed. Quit Mack -QUIT.

Try telling that to Kansas State, coach Bill Snyder is very useful and needed.

Well, there are days when he appears to need a backup plan - the "bag of balls" workout tape is a way to go.

Yo, Harsin! If Overstreet has "thrown the ball very well", why is he only being considered for taking snaps in the "wild"? Has Ash's progress been better than you're letting on? Is 2012 a throwaway season while y'all prepare for 2013? Is Brewer gonna redshirt? Are you thinking that Overstreet will ultimately fill this "dual threat" roll better than Swoops? I Seals-Jones completely out of the picture? In other words...... whiskey.tango.foxtrot???

I think Harsin needs a K Moore back there. LOL

He needs a goddam TE. Over the past several years we've had two who couldn't stay healthy and several others who just plain sucked.::Sigh::

You need to learn to let it out....holding it in only causes stress related ulcers and other things.

LOL
