Freshman may play Longhorns' Wildcat role

09:55 AM ET 08.11 | The Longhorns have no shortage of candidates to replace Fozzy Whittaker at the wildcat position, taking snaps from center. Some believe the talented freshman TB Johnathan Gray is the best of these candidates. But the most intriguing might be freshman Jalen Overstreet, a quarterback who is built like a tailback. Overstreet could add the element of passing to wildcat plays. "Does he have potential to do it? Absolutely," said Bryan Harsin, UT's co-offensive coordinator. "He can move. He's thrown the ball very well in practice. He's a threat." Even so, Harsin said the coaches must determine if Overstreet would play enough to justify not taking a redshirt season. Harsin also said it's possible they would also use three quarterbacks and that Overstreet could be one of them.

Well, there are days when he appears to need a backup plan - the "bag of balls" workout tape is a way to go.
