Reid unhappy with own agent's remarks

08:14 AM ET 08.12 | Superagent Bob LaMonte, who represents Andy Reid and numerous other NFL head coaches, visited Eagles training camp at Lehigh University Saturday and said owner Jeffrey Lurie has assured him that Reid will remain head coach of the Eagles as long as he wants to. Soon after LaMonte told a group of reporters, "As long as [Lurie is] the owner of the Philadelphia Eagles, Andy will be his coach," Lurie released a statement shooting down those remarks. And later Saturday evening, a team official who is very close to Reid said Reid was uncomfortable with LaMonte's remarks and disagreed with LaMonte's contention that he had "earned the right to decide what he wants to do." Reid for the first time since he became head coach in 1999, is beginning a year with only two seasons -- this year and next -- remaining on his contract.

If Reid can't make a deep run into the playoffs -- maybe even with a Super Bowl -- in the next two seasons with the talent they've brought to Phillie to play for him, Reid doesn't deserve to keep his job.

Talent? Their starting QB has played one full season in the NFL!

This time I got to agree with Andy. For a head coach to go as long as he has with no ring to show for it, he hasn't "earned the right to decide what he wants to do".

This has been obvious for several years now. People just freak out when it's explicitly stated.

I think this is Andy's make or break year. There is a lot of talent on that team, they have been together for a while now, and will have a whole offseason to get ready.

SB or bust, Andy.

By the looks of the photo he's got the bust part handled.

Someone needs to tell Lamonte to shut his flapping yap

Exactly... He needs to be reminded that he is the employee...

A couple more trips through the buffet line and it could be a bust.... That would be his second one.

Agreed. Fortunately Jeff Lurie is smart enough to know that Andy knows better.

Reid has to produce or else.

That goes for all agents. Negotiate a contract and then just go away.

Maybe Andy is the "significant part of the team" that Lurie's wife is rumored to be getting in the divorce.

More interesting is the ex owning a percentage of the team. How much ? If she is really festering a good hate for Lurie she may sell to someone just to twist things up.

correction it says "sizable chunk" I am not sure if that is a leagle term

I will be happy when they inprove the level of service on here. Perhaps they could work all the way up to "sucks"

They have brought in a lot of talent the last few years especially, but it doesn't appear to have been talent that the team needed to play better. I don't know how large a role Reid played in deciding who to acquire and who to skip over--that may be the deciding factor in his fate--if he can't figure out who/what the team needs to win more games then a fresh set of eyes is called for.
