09:34 AM ET 08.12 | The Minnesota Wild have to pay $10 million bonuses by Saturday, Aug. 18, to each of the star free agents they signed in July, Zach Parise and Ryan Suter. With those bonuses due, a little birdie says, virtually all of the Wild's 11 limited partners last week agreed to commit to a total capital call of $10 million. Principal partner Craig Leipold is expected to fund the remaining $10 million.

Maybe my problem is that I'm reading the story a little too closely, but it says they have to pay them $10 million each by August 18th. The lock out isn't until September 15th (?) so they really aren't paying them during the lockout, just honoring the commitment they made when they signed them.

Maybe they should have an NHL game show. Put a group of owners on one side and a box of rocks on the other. Contestants will have to figure out which one is dumber.

You're making the same mistake everyone seems to be making lately; that is equating the act of a desperate Minnesota Wild owner with the the intelligence of the rest of the NHL owners. I hope you noticed that no other team was willing to step up to the plate with such foolish offers (less foolish for Suter, but foolish nonetheless) for either player. I hope the Wild suck for the next 20 years and I hope their boneheaded owner lives long enough to watch all of it.
