Will Tebow be Jets starter by Halloween?

08:54 AM ET 08.12 | In the preseason opener in Cincinnati on Friday night, Tim Tebow displayed the multi-dimensional value he adds to the Jets. He creates a schoolyard draw-it-up-in-the-dirt mentality with his unique style: Any completion seems like a mistake, but he sure can run through a defense and make people miss. He changes the attitude of the Jets offense into an attack style, a huge shift from the game manager mentality the Jets have drilled into Mark Sanchez. I don't think Tebow has gained any ground on Sanchez through the first two weeks of training camp or in the preseason game against the Bengals Friday night. But he showed he will be a valuable player for the Jets. They lack firepower. He provides it, whether in the Wildcat or conventional snaps with the first-team offense. You can't get deep into the playoffs with Tebow as the starting quarterback, but he can be a useful piece to the puzzle. If Tebow winds up the starter this season -- I'm sticking with Halloween as the target date -- it will be a result of how poorly Sanchez has played and the need to change the vibe more than anything Tebow has done.

The blessing and curse that is Tim Tebow. Your team instantly rallies around him and plays better (I'm a Bronco fan, trust me on this. That was a totally demoralized team he took from Kyle Orton). However, you can't get deep into the playoffs with him.
The problem for the Jets is that the other guy is just a curse.
Oh, and by the way, the Jets suck!

Personally I've said all along, Sanchez has 4 weeks to perform or his is on the bench. That's as long as the Jets can go before they kiss the season goodbye.

Zero chance he'll be unemployed at year's end.

This is true, but not for a QB that runs more than he passes. If Tebow continues to run the ball 8/10 times a day, he will get hurt and spend some time on IR.

I am not sure there is a "target" date for the change in QB. I think Fat man plans on playing them both and if one gets a leg ripped off or concussed then the other will play more. I see Ryan more takeing the "a nad decission is worse than no decission" path

A more likely scenario would have the Jets looking to trade Sanchez after this year, and look for a QB-of-the-future in the draft, while keeping Tebow as the designated starter.

Tom Brady never runs by choice and he spent a year on IR. Nobody is immune

Another thought I had is this may be Ryan's way of "fixing" that riducules contract they signed with Sanchez

I understand that, but if your offensive line is decent, then a good QB has to stay in the pocket and pass the damn ball, is Tebow a good enough passer to be a good pocket QB? Big Ben runs the ball a little and look what happens to him, he hurts quite a bit. Brady spent a year on IR, because of someone rolling on his leg and yes it does happen to alot of players, but a QB is not designed to run the ball that much. I don't really see Tebow being a good pocket passer, as of yet.

Could be true if the offensive line doesn't get their act together......at least Tebow might get a few yards with his legs....Sanchez will just take the beating like he did last year....
