09:38 AM ET 08.12 | There are just three teams -- the Twins, Texas and the Angels -- that ex-Twin Torii Hunter, 37, will consider for next year. Hunter, who becomes a free agent at season's end, is hitting .291 with 12 home runs and 55 runs batted in this season.

You might want to expand that list, Torii, if you actually want to play next year. The Angels don't have much room in an already crowded outfield. I don't know why either Texas or Minnesota would want you.

The Twinkles cannot afford you, the Angels and Rangers don't need you, so I guess Hunter you will end up playing in Japan or with yourself.

The Twins aren't a contender, but that's exactly why they don't need him. They need to rebuild with youth, not a guy playing out the string at the end of his career.

He will expand the list, or be forced into retirement. He might not even get an offer if he is willing to play anywhere.
Just a thought: Houston. They join the American League next year, and Torii could DH, play OF, and be a leader for a lot of young players on a bad team.

Now that is a good thought. I think the Angels would prefer to keep him as their 4th outfielder, but they are stuck with Wells contract so I expect Hunter to go. Maybe he will find another contending team that needs outfield depth.

Excellent point. But the Astros have a LOOOONG way to go before being considered "contenders."

Since he lives in the Dallas area that's a no-brainer.

When you are his age, at the tail end of your career, can you really afford to make such statements? I agree with toad, he will either end up in Japan never to be heard from again, or retired like Barry Bonds because no one will sign him.

I don't know ... minimal salary, Young's decline, Hamilton probably a goner ... might not be a bad idea ...

As a Twins fan, the sentimental part of me says, yea, cool. Torii comes back and finishes his career as a Twin. The practical side, not so much. But at a discount, he could provide some leadership for the young players they're rebuilding around.

I didn't say they were contenders. I don't think anyone else did either. But if Hunter wants to play in '13, that may be a logical destination.
