Failing airline may wreak havoc with Preds road games

09:58 AM ET 08.12 | A charter air service's financial and legal problems could scramble the Nashville Predators' travel plans as the season nears. A spokeswoman said the NHL team is "exploring alternate travel options" in case Swift Air LLC is unable to fly players, coaches and equipment to and from away games starting this fall. Swift Air filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in late June but has continued to operate, court records show. An airline also has filed a $50 million civil lawsuit accusing four Swift Air executives of fraud. That has left travel plans for the Predators and several other pro sports teams unsettled on the eve of competition. The Predators are to open the preseason at the Florida Panthers on Sept. 24.

They could probably walk to their first game. They've got all year.

Fly KHL, the friendly airline. Very cheap I hear.

I think some guy by the name of Weber may be able to afford to fly the team around from game to game...

Change the name to the Nashville Greyhounds and maybe they'll be able to travel by bus for free!

Wait, Southwest has a flight to Ft. Lauderdale every day at 805a! What's the problem? Plenty of seats available on Sept. 24th! And for $10 more you get early bird seating!

That's what happens when you keep flying the lousy airline belonging to Jerry Moyes, the prick that started the mess with the Coyotes. Why the Preds, usually a smart organization, kept flying this joke of an airline is a mystery to me...
