08:21 AM ET 08.13 | Short on linebackers during last season's Ohio State-Michigan game, dinged-up Ryan Shazier remained on the field with a brace bolstering the left knee to which he had sustained a sprained ligament in the second quarter. "I watched that [the Michigan] game on TV, and Shazier didn't play very good," [Urban Meyer] said. A ragged chorus of reporters noted that Shazier was hurt. An Ohio State publicist piped up: "Coach, he was really hurt." "The dog ate my homework," Meyer said. "He didn't play very well. Linebackers have to play dinged up a little bit. The great ones do." Meyer's remarks were so at odds with the perception of Shazier as to seem cold, crude and uninformed.

After the "dog ate the homework" the writer of this article stepped in dog crap.

Was Shazier being called a wiener by Meyer?

I'm sure the Gator fans would like to share their opinion of Meyer as well.

He won us a pair of NC's. I'm OK with that, personally.

Ohio State is too soft, too slow and read their press clippings while all the SEC teams sprint past the slower Ohio players.

less, with more, than any coach in the country

He didn't play very well, Urban, very well. Maybe you need to go to 3rd grade remedial English with the rest of the team.

SEC....thought that stood for"Slow Easy Conference"

Well, the last time Meyer coached, he didn't coach very well. So I guess Shazier and Meyer have the "not very well" in common.

Well, you can watch Urbie and the Bucks football team at practices this week on ESPNU.

I noticed Shazier was not offering an excuse. Maybe he is in line with Meyer in that the standard of performance at OSU needs to rise.
